Day Two

We woke up early so we could be in Terminal 5 by 7am. I had a strange dream where Ann and I were hiding from a very large gorilla whilst in the jungle. I had to keep putting my hand over her mouth as she wouldn't stop talking, much to my annoyance. It just didn't seem to register that there was a 25ft gorilla about 5ft away from us.

Luckily there was no gorilla in the hotel room so we managed to get out on time and get across to the terminal. Once there we had to check in our own baggage. Bloody cheek cutting costs making us do the work like a self scan checkout in a supermarket. Managed to print labels and attach to the suitcases and send them off on a journey. Next we got through security fairly swiftly, although I did get detained and put through a full body scanner. Think this was due to the fact I had my watch on and it set the metal detector off. I did point this out before I went through the detector but was told I didn't need to take it off.

Having achieved all this in about twenty minutes we went to have breakfast at Gordon Ramsey's. For some reason our drinks appeared as works of art.

Can you guess what it is yet?

Not sure what they are meant to be but presume this is the reason everything cost about a million quid.

Went to a couple of shops next and bought some books and a paper. Ann sprayed a lot of perfume around. Caught the train over to the departure gate and then within ten minutes we got called to board.

BA0053

Got on and took our seats in Scum Class Plus. Fancy, I hear you cry! No plain old Scum Class for us. Pushed back right on time and then we were off. Mainly cloudy so didn't see much of the UK as we made our way up. We then settled down for nine and a half hours of sitting. Read the paper, did a crossword, played some computer games on the screen. Won Who Wants to be a Millionaire twice. Had lunch using proper cutlery unlike the uncouth masses further back behind the curtain. Think we'll both now have Covid as a woman across the aisle spent the entire time coughing, that and throwing her belongings on the floor at regular intervals.

Time passed gradually and we then got a brief glimpse of the Rockies out the window.

Rocky 1,2,3,4 and 5

Before we knew it we were making our approach and then we were on the ground. Deplaned and got our baggage before heading to immigration. Helpfully everybody was at lunch so there were about three desks operating out of forty despite the fact about four overseas flights had just landed. Eventually they returned and more desks opened and things sped up. As ever got the world's most boring official. I'm not sure he cared who we were, why we had arrived and what we were carrying. He seemed quite annoyed we weren't carrying any British money with us but waved us through anyway.

We then tried to find the shuttle bus to the hotel. We eventually located the shuttle bus loading area and then had to wait for the Holiday Inn Express bus. It turned up but the bloke wouldn't let us get on stating he wasn't going to the Holiday Inn Express. We were confused by this. Ann then phoned the hotel and requested a bus. They said they would send one. We waited for a while and then another one appeared. We tried to get on but the driver also said he wasn't going to the Holiday Inn Express either. He must of seen the look of incredulity on our faces because he then said he would take us anyway. We got on and eventually arrived at the hotel.

Despite being early we checked in and went up to our room. We had planned to go to the Museum of Flight to pass the time in the afternoon but decided we couldn't be bothered with the hassle of trying to get there and as time was getting on. Instead we caught the 1 Line into downtown Seattle.

There can be only 1 Line

Got off at Westlake! No stick in sight unless you count the Space Needle. Went to a place called Johnny Rockets for dinner. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and fries. Ann had something.

God it tasted good

We then caught the train back out again before heading for the hotel. It had started to lightly drizzle and then it tipped it down when we were a few seconds away from the hotel so we did get slightly wet.

It is now 4.45am to me despite only being 8.45pm according to the clock. We have another early start tomorrow as we need to be back at the airport for about 6am.

As predicted yesterday, Ann is asleep as I type this. I will be shortly.
